Last week, the Swiss Championship took place in Bern. We arrived on Monday and had our first training session, spending 15 minutes on each of the four rinks to get familiar with the ice and stones.
Later that evening, at 8:00 PM, we played our first match and secured a dominant 8:0 victory against Team St. Gallen-Flims-Baden, giving us a strong start to the tournament.
Throughout the round-robin phase, we remained undefeated despite some ups and downs:
Game 2: 6:5 win against Bern-Thun
Game 3: 7:3 win against Grasshopper Club Zürich
Game 4: 4:3 win against Zug Gemperle AG
Game 5: 5:3 win against Luzern E. Lutz AG
With our perfect record, we advanced directly to the Page Playoff 1 vs. 2, where we faced GC Zürich once again. A tough third end, in which we gave up four points, put us behind early. Despite a strong second half, we couldn’t complete the comeback as our opponents defended well, leading to a narrow 7:8 loss.
On Friday morning, we played the semifinal against Zug Gemperle AG. It was another game full of highs and lows, but unfortunately, we came up short. As a result, we finished the Swiss Championship in 3rd place. Congratulations to Team Zug Gemperle AG on winning the national title!
While this was not the result we had hoped for, our full focus is now on preparing for the World Championship, which will take place from March 15 to 23 in South Korea.
We are excited about the challenges ahead!
